Please join me in helping to raise money for United4Iran, which is working to advance civil liberties in Iran by advocating for human rights, supporting civil society, and engaging Iranians through technology.
The killing of Mahsa Amini in Iran and the protests that have since swept the country have moved me profoundly.
I try to imagine myself in the shoes of the brave women and men who took to the streets to say ENOUGH. Would I be brave enough to break the law in my classroom? Would I dare to walk the streets with my hair free knowing full well the physical harm it could bring to me?
I am not sure I am so brave. But I know I can show them my support and add my voice to theirs. We can let them know the world is listening and watching and help them in their fight. I returned to my sewing machine to pay homage to their courage with a quilt that honors their bravery. #womanlifefreedom
As I was finishing the quilt, my friend and colleague, Pouria Mojabi, put out a call for signatures on his petition to the leaders of America (sign it too!). We decided to join forces to raise money for the group behind the United4Iran Gershad app—we love the innovation coming from this group and want to support them as they work on tech solutions that advocate human rights in Iran.
