Missouri Quilters Portrait Project: Sept 17–22

The Portrait Project is coming up SO SOON : ) — As I write, we are under a week away and can't wait to see everyone.

Our hours for the Portraits are:
Tuesday–Friday: 9:30a–5p
Saturday: 9:30a–2p
Sunday: 12–4p

Our address is: 512 Washington Street, Chillicothe MO 64601

It began as a simple conversation between two friends—Zelda, a photographer and me, a textile printer—wondering how we could merge our talents into something extraordinary. Our brainstorming sessions, conducted over Zoom due my move from NYC to MO, sparked an idea as I was recounting the two months we’d been open for the All Missouri Shop Hop. That event’s vibrancy, we realized, presented a unique opportunity.

As a shop owner during the All Missouri Shop Hop, what captivates me most is the sheer variety of participants who walk through our doors. Now, diversity is a word that carries weight, and I acknowledge that we don't always see a wide variety of cultural identities. But what we do have is a diverse array of creators—individuals who express their creativity in myriad ways. From those who piece together quilts from vintage shirts to those who meticulously curate a single color palette, from pattern-followers to those who revel in breaking the rules—it’s this rich tapestry of creativity that compels me to capture the faces behind it all.

And so, we’re reaching out to you to help bring this vision to life. We have set ourselves an ambitious goal: to capture 100 portraits. Zelda will be in the studio for a week this September, and while time is limited, we’re determined to paper an entire wall with these portraits. Our aim? To bring the extraordinary people behind this craft into the spotlight, where they truly belong.

We hope you'll join us!

September 17–22
No appointment necessary, we'll try to be as fast as possible so we don't slow your hop down.

Every quilt—and quilter—tells a story, join our MO Quilter Portrait Project and capture yours.

Missouri Quilters Portrait Project

We are creating a “quilt of portraits” exhibition highlighting the creativity, originality, and exuberance of the quilters we see in the studio every September and October when we open for the All MO Shop Hop.

We want YOU to join in this celebration of quilting by taking part in our Portrait Project.

Why you?

You help make the Missouri quilting community diverse and special. So! Please join us and bring a completed or in-progress project (or just yourself!) and be part of our visual record.

Lifelong artist and photographer, Zelda Zinn, is joining us from Brooklyn, NY and will be taking portraits in the studio September 17-22.
