From Quilt Blocks to Footstool
Share
It started as a quiet little challenge—ten days, ten blocks, three colors, and one Starburst print. Shadow, Doeskin, and Suede. Simple enough, right?

There’s something powerful about limiting your palette. You start to notice the subtle shifts, the way colors you once doubted begin to feel inevitable, how a single bright line from the Starburst print can make the whole block feel intentional and a little bit luxurious. Each piece became a small experiment in texture and story.
By the end of the tenth block, I had a tidy stack of neutrals that felt like they had developed their own language—one I wanted to live with, to see every day.

A few days (and one upholstery adventure) later, those blocks grew up into the cutest little footstool—mid-century legs, brass tips, and all. It’s a piece that brings together everything I love about design: creativity paired with utility. The corners aren’t quite where I want them yet, but I’m enjoying the act of making rather than waiting for the perfect technique.
It’s also a reminder that the “what next?” question doesn’t always have to be big. Sometimes it’s as small—and as delightful—as giving your feet a place to land.
